The first ingredient in C3AM is neroli (bitter orange blossom) hydrosol which has a complex and absolutely intoxicating scent. Neroli, along with witch hazel distillate have astringent qualities which tighten pores and controls oil production— both beneficial during the hot summer months. Due to its astringent qualities, however, it is not suitable for the “seven-skin method” (the process of layering multiple applications of water-based products to plump skin with hydration—use M1 for this process).
To balance the pore-tightening and oil-controlling ingredients, I’ve included plenty of hydrating goodies such as concentrated aloe juice and vegetable glycerin. Hydration without the oil? Yes, please!
Acid toners, such as C3PM, and other exfoliating treatments increase sensitivity to the sun, even when used in the evenings, and diligent use of sunscreen should be a priority. Even still, I think it is prudent to leave acids out of the morning products. Instead, of exfoliating acids, I have included some caffeine that is thought increase microcirculation to de-puff, reduce redness and brighten skin.
Cheers to bright mornings!
