Ingredient feature: Caffeine

Caffeine is an odourless, colourless by-product of coffee decaffeination. Although solid scientific evidence is lacking in the effects of this ingredient in skincare, caffeine is readily absorbed into the skin and is thought to increase microcirculation and accelerate the elimination of fluid from the tissues (de-puffs the skin). It is also thought to promote hair growth and reduce excessive hair loss by inhibiting the enzyme that converts testosterone into dihydrotestosterone, which is the main hormone responsible for the development of baldness.

Having tested this ingredient for six months, I am concerned this will affect sleep in some individuals like it did for me. I am fiercely protective of the quality of my sleep since it is a cornerstone of physical and mental and recovery, so it will be present in morning products only: C3AM (Morning Toner) for a morning boost, and in the H3 (Hair & Scalp Refreshing Spray) which should be used in the morning since the rosemary and peppermint oils are quite stimulating as well.

Wishing you wakeful days and restful evenings,

Cee
