If I had to pick and choose from the Hyangii line, l would prioritize getting the leave-on products (M-series) over the wash-off ones (C-series). However, a large part of healthy-aging is to reduce oxidative damage which is largely caused by sun exposure but is also due to pollutants remaining on the skin. For this reason, thorough cleansing to remove environmental pollutants, household chemicals, sunscreen and makeup is imperative to maintaining healthy skin. On the other hand, cleansing must be gentle enough to protect the skin barrier. It’s possible to achieve both via DOUBLE CLEANSING. C1 (oil cleansing) followed by C2 (gentle store-bought cleanser).
Double cleansing is not enough to clean pores, which is where 2-3 times weekly clay masks (C2) are helpful. Clay removes excess sebum from pores and with frequent use, makes pores less congested and therefore, appear smaller. The summer bar is fast and easy to use. The winter bar is more nourishing and contains water-activated vitamin C. Clay also provides gentle physical exfoliation.
While physical exfoliation can feel great, gentle and consistent chemical exfoliation with C3 PM containing acids and probiotics from organic apple cider vinegar and kombucha is the key to glowing skin. Over exfoliation, on the other hand, is worse than having under exfoliated skin. If your skin is shiny but not oily, that is a sign that you’ve over-done it. This is why I prefer the consistent, gentle rituals of the Hyangii system over more potent treatments or facials which can cause inflammation. Inflammation due to irritants also causes oxidative damage to collagen. That’s another story for another time.
